J.HYDE at Work
Built by professionals, for professionals.
Corporate eyecare for Birmingham firms whose people are seen every day — across a table, on a stage, in every photograph of the business.
Speak to usWhy it matters
Glasses are the most visible thing anyone in your firm will wear.
They're on the face in every client meeting, every pitch, every headshot on the website. More visible than the suit, and worn for longer.
How your people look is not a small thing. It's how the firm is read before anyone says a word. Give someone glasses they actually want to wear and they wear them with confidence — which is the whole point, and the part a voucher scheme never gets to.
The standard
Framing Success™
Four things decide whether glasses work. We own all four, for your people exactly as we do for our private clients.
The eye test
A precise prescription is the foundation everything else is built on. Plus a full eye health check with retinal imaging.
The lens
Zeiss only, never generic. DuraVision Platinum with BlueProtect as standard — built for people who spend their day in front of a screen.
The frame
Our own designs, made to our specification. Advice from style experts on what suits the face and the role.
The measurement
Visufit 1000 at Cannon Street, Zeiss i.Terminal at Mere Green. Measured with the chosen frame on the face.
Who you're dealing with
An optometrist, not a chain.
J.HYDE was founded by Vik, in optics since 2001 and qualified as an optometrist in 2006, having trained first as a dispensing optician. He understands how a prescription is made and how it's worn.
Two studios, both a short walk from where your people already work. Cannon Street for the City Centre. Mere Green for the northern corridor. Appointments are thirty minutes, or as long as it takes to get it right.
How you structure it
The test, and the glasses if you choose.
Your obligation, met
A full private eye test with an optometrist, including retinal imaging and a complete eye health check. Bought as vouchers up front, valid twelve months, redeemable at either studio.
Glasses they'll want to wear
A J.HYDE frame with Zeiss lenses, DuraVision Platinum with BlueProtect as standard, digitally measured. Where someone wants a different frame from the collection, they pay the difference themselves.
How far you go is your call. Some firms cover the test alone, some cover the glasses in full, some set a contribution and let the employee top up. We'll work to whichever suits you.
How it works
Simple for you. Better for them.
Vouchers up front
Issued in a block, valid twelve months, redeemable at either studio.
They book direct
Into slots reserved for your firm. Nothing for HR to coordinate or chase.
One invoice
Monthly or quarterly, whichever suits your finance function.
A named contact
Louise handles every J.HYDE at Work account directly. Not a call centre.
DSE compliance
Your obligation, covered.
Under the Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992, if an employee who uses a screen as a significant part of their work asks for an eye test, you must provide one at no cost to them. Where the test shows glasses are needed specifically for screen work, you must also cover a basic pair.
We handle both, and we extend the same vouchers to your people's families.

Common questions
What firms ask us.
Do employers have to pay for glasses under DSE regulations?
Only where the eye test shows correction is needed specifically for display screen work — not for a general prescription. Beyond that, what you contribute is entirely your choice.
What's included in the £190?
A J.HYDE frame with Zeiss lenses, DuraVision Platinum with BlueProtect coating as standard, and digital measurement with the frame on the face.
What if someone wants a different frame?
They choose anything in the collection and pay the difference themselves. Your cost doesn't change.
What if the prescription isn't DSE-specific?
The voucher isn't wasted. Eye tests at J.HYDE are included with any lens purchase, so it comes off the price if the employee decides to buy.
Do you come to our offices?
No. Fitting, digital measurement and frame selection can't be done properly in a meeting room. Your people come to the studio, which is the point.
How long are vouchers valid?
Twelve months from purchase, redeemable at either studio.
Is there a minimum number of employees?
No. A firm of eight is as welcome as a firm of eighty.
Can families use it too?
Yes. Every employee on the scheme receives vouchers to pass on — partner, parents, whoever they choose.
Which studio do they use?
Either. Cannon Street, Birmingham B2 5EP, or Mere Green, Sutton Coldfield B75 5BS. Both open Tuesday to Saturday, 9 to 5.
Define your presence.
Your people represent the firm every day. This is the part of it nobody thinks about.
